The laboratory of Dr. Russell Ryan in the University of Michigan Medical School Department of Pathology is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow for advanced training in the field of epigenomics, transcriptional regulation, and cancer biology. Our goal is to deconstruct the functional inputs that control expression of major oncogenes in B-cell leukemia and lymphoma, with a particular focus on distal regulatory elements and therapeutically targetable upstream pathways.

     Responsibilities*

The successful applicant will work on one of several funded projects related to oncogene enhancer regulation in lymphoma, with a goal of building the applicant's capabilities as an independent scientist. Methodologies may include the use of epigenomic and genome topology mapping assays (ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, 4C-Seq), and large-scale pooled screens, including CRISPR-Cas9-based approaches. Models will include cancer cell lines, primary human cells and tissues (including clinically obtained samples), and mouse models, depending on the nature of the project and the fellow's prior experience. Some projects may involve the use of novel small molecule inhibitors of epigenetic protein function developed by collaborators in the Pathology department.

The fellow must be able to work collaboratively and will supervise and mentor junior colleagues as part of their career development.

     Required Qualifications*

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in a related field (cancer, transcriptional regulation, epigenetics), with a record of high-profile first-author publications, and should demonstrate excellent oral communication and scientific writing skills.

     Desired Qualifications*

Experience with computational analysis of next-generation sequencing datasets is preferred. Experience in hematological or lymphoid cancers, normal B cell biology, and B cell signaling pathways (B-cell receptor signaling, PI3 kinase / mTOR, Notch signaling) would be highly desirable.
