     ROLE SUMMARY

An exciting Postdoctoral Fellowship is available in Pfizer’s Global Biomarkers discipline in Drug Safety to support broad selectivity screening of drug candidates to better selection of compounds with desired target binding properties. The postdoctoral fellow will utilize expert skills in LC-MS/MS to develop a biomarker platform that integrates targeted mass spectrometry with enrichment using chemical probes to enhance knowledge of on- or off-target pharmacology and toxicity of therapeutic candidates. This role will provide opportunities on cutting edge chemical techniques and LC-MS/MS, and to closely collaborate with different groups in Pfizer to also gain broader drug development insights. This position requires bioanalytical expertise as well as hands-on experience in chemical biology and mass spectrometry techniques. The expectation is that this work will lead to publications in top tier journals setting the foundation for a career in academia or industry.

     ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of targeted LC-MS/MS methods for the measurement of target proteins (multiplexed analytes).

To set up this methodology, testing of chemical probes with different reactivity for affinity enrichment in different biological matrices will be required.

This position requires expertise in biological sample handling (particularly cell, serum and tissues), and application of complex sample preparation methodologies including click-chemistry, enzymatic digestion and antibody enrichment applied to protein mass spectrometry.

As a strong collaborator, develop partnerships with Chemical Biologist working on click-chemistry approaches as well as other LC-MS/MS team members.

Participate in various phases of mass spectrometry laboratory operations including day-to-day use, maintenance and troubleshooting of nanoflow chromatography and mass spectrometers.

Ensure all tasks and responsibilities are carried out according to scientific and ethical standards e.g. responsible for appropriate record keeping and compliance.

Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and external / internal presentations are expected.

     QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants hold a Ph.D. in Analytical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry or closely related fields with 0-2 years of postdoctoral experience.

Experience in LC-MS/MS (HRMS and/or MRM) and chemical biology techniques are essential.

Strong analytical and protein biochemistry background.

Possess excellent oral/written communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate and communicate within a team environment.

Well organized, self-motivated, ability to multitask and with attention to detail.

Willingness to learn with a strong work ethic.
