     Positions in The Unit of Microbial Molecular Pathogenesis and Symbiosis at Institut Pasteur of Shanghai

     ABOUT THE INSTITUTE AND THE CENTER

     Institut Pasteur of Shanghai (IPS) is an independent research institution jointly established by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Institut Pasteur and Shanghai Municipal Government. IPS is dedicated to enhancing preparedness and responsiveness to infectious diseases through conducting cutting-edge research and sustained translation of solutions.

     IPS has evolved three interdisciplinary research fields that cover pathogen biology, infection and immunity, vaccinology and immune therapy. IPS performs fundamental research on infectious diseases with unmet medical needs, emerging/reemerging viral, bacterial, fungal and parasite infections, immune regulation in metabolic disorders, tumorigenesis and degenerative diseases.

     "The Unit of Microbial Molecular Pathogenesis and Symbiosis" headed by Professor Philippe Samsonite, is dedicated to investigating the role of the gut microbiota in maintaining a colonization barrier against pathogens, is seeking outstanding young scientists.

     THE VACANCY

     The Unit is now seeking outstanding Senior scientist

     Job Description

     The senior scientist will work on deciphering the maturation process of the child’s intestinal microbiota from birth to 2 – 3 years of age and how it affects the digestive and absorptive process of nutrients at different stages, in healthy and diseased conditions.

     She/he will be responsible to design, supervise and interpret day-to-day project activities and write research papers and grant proposals under the mentorship of Philippe Sansonetti.

     Qualifications:

     PhD degree in Biology, expertise in nutrition, microbiology, metagenomics and metabolomics.

     At least three years postdoctoral training in related areas and optimally, experience in translational research (“bench to bed-side”).

     Solid publications in peer-reviewed journals.

     Broad technical expertise and enthusiasm in scientific research.

     Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English, including giving presentations.

     ABOUT THE CENTER

     "The Unit of Microbiota-Host Interactions" headed by Dr. Parag Kundu, focus at understanding the inter-communications between the gut microbiota and intestinal stem cells during different phases of life.

     THE VACANCY

     The Unit is now seeking outstanding Research Assistant

     Job Description

     Draft procedures and laboratory protocols in English.Communicate with different groups and departments for example HR, Finance and Purchase departments to facilitate laboratory operations.Support in process/analytical methods/validation/cleaning/maintenance of laboratory equipments.Strictly follow the 6S rules and regulations, participate in laboratory management and maintain laboratory safety.Prepare monthly/weekly summary reports for equipments/instrument operations and laboratory related activities.

     Assist members of the laboratory in conducting experiments.

     Communicate with collaborators on experiment schedules and procurement of biological samples.

     Maintain logs for biological samples and biobank for the laboratory.

     Qualifications:

     We are looking for a skilled, competent and motivated biologist.

     Fluent in speaking and writing in English and Chinese.Bachelor degree in biology or life sciences.

     Have good professional ethics, personality and morality.

     Have good communication skills in English and Chinese.

     Experience in biological laboratory procedures.

     Have strong leaning ability, coordination skills and good teamwork spirit.

     Can take initiatives and execute laboratory operations.
